Holden Manz Visionaire 2018

This wine has an intense dark red colour with a bright edge. A mild summer and late-season rain led to late-ripening cabernets with elegant tannins and structure. Aged 24 months in 20% new and 80% second and third-fill French oak barrels, the grapes were picked at optimal ripeness, sorted, crushed, and fermented after a 5-day cold soak with minimal additions to preserve the true grape characteristics. Grapes from distinct parcels add complexity to the wine.

• Taste: Red berry and mulberry flavours dominate, with subtle notes of pencil shavings, spice, and fynbos on the nose. The palate is smooth, ripe, and elegantly balanced. The finish is spicy, and supple, and lingers with graphite and plum notes. Soft tannins and a harmonious blend create a complex and satisfying experience. 
• Food Pairings: Rosemary roasted Karoo lamb chops or a 30-day air-dried fillet steak with pepper sauce. This wine is complex, so keep the food simple to enjoy its natural goodness.
